Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

This beautiful Bald Eagle and her wonderful mate raised 19 eaglets between 2004 and 2011. She was struck and killed by an airplane near her hunting grounds the morning of April 26. Her and Daddy's 3 eaglets were relocated to The Wildlife Center of Virginia where they will be raised until they're old enough for release. This picture was taken by Robert Mislan, a local photographer. Links to his site and the site to watch these wonderful birds is on my Favorite Links page.

Stevie and Peggy |
On the right is Jazzy 1/11/96 to 7/08 She died of cancer. On the left are Stevie ('01-09') & Peggy (Unknown-'09') I had Stevie when I got Peggy. Peggy had been abused by a former mate & was very disfigured. She didn't like people & we never knew she was sick. Stevie died a few months later of a broken heart. He never made a sound or played after Peggy died. He really loved her. |

On the right is Sugar '05-06'. On the left is Brittani with Fat Luey 12/01-'04' You may not like rats, but Luey was great. He loved his doll house and stayed in it all day without trying to escape. He died of cancer. |

On the right is Moss '00-02'. We got her from the pound & she never was really healthy. On the left is Storm '90-00' He was the best. He was gentle enough to let a toddler crawl between his legs without fear. He would also drink from a glass like a human. He died of cancer. |
